    • Strategic Management is the management of an organization’s resources to achieve its goals and objectives.
    • The module are for Owners, Senior Managers/Executives or Middle Managers who are being groomed or trained for executive position in an organization.
    • Participants should be able to apply the strategic management process consisting of strategy formulation, strategy implementation and strategy evaluation, as well as the various analytical frameworks and strategy formulation tools that can aid them in informed decision-making.

 

INTRODUCTION:

Strategic management is the management of  an organization’s resources to achieve its goals and objectives.  Strategic management involves setting objectives, scanning the competitive environment, analyzing the internal organization, evaluating strategies and ensuring that management communicates the strategies across the organization.  To put it simply, the essence of strategic management is the creation and sustenance of competitive advantage.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Participants should be able to apply the strategic management process consisting of strategy formulation, strategy implementation and strategy evaluation, as well as the various analytical frameworks and strategy formulation tools that can aid them in informed decision-making.  Through this course, participants’ strategic thinking capability is expected to be honed as they are made to critically analyze and integrate information about their companies’ external and internal environment in the local and global context, and to use this in formulating and implementing innovative strategies that lead to competitive advantage. Participants will be made to understand the different strategy choices available to them and evaluate strategic management issues and concepts that are important to managing in today’s global environment.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  1. Create vision and mission statements that are sound and inspiring.
  2. Identify strategic issues and relevant external and internal factors that need to be addressed by the organization.
  3. Develop strategic and financial objectives.
  4. Formulate appropriate and innovative strategies and programs/action plans to address the issues and to achieve company objectives (considering the external and internal factors); and
  5. Design a balanced scorecard and a performance monitoring system.
